A MULTI-USE, COMMUNITY-LED SANCTUARY

We are buzzing with hope and excitement as we cultivate our first home at Fireweed Print Shop in TwispWorks. We believe that dedicated queer spaces are vital for queer survival and thriving, especially in the current moment.

This community space will offer various structured and unstructured programs including: Collage Nights, Queer After School Club, Consciousness Raising and more!

We look forward to dreaming and sharing this emerging space with the community.

Fireweed Print Shop is queer owned and located in Twisp, WA on unceded Methow Tribal lands. Artist, teacher, printmaker Laura Gunnip helps students of all ages engage in the radical act of creative self-knowledge through letterpress and printmaking classes. This community print shop and art studio is home to two etching presses, antique letterpresses and screen printing facilities. We create small batch and one-of-kind hand printed items. Reach out to Laura for sliding scale print lessons or studio day use, especially if you are queer maker: fireweedprintshop@gmail.com

This space came to life as “queer folks were interested in more frequent opportunities to gather, create, and learn from each other.”

Fireweed Print Shop, with its established role as a sanctuary for the queer community, turned out to be the perfect place to make this happen. “Laura Gunnip has been working in the space for 10 years, cultivating queer community alongside their art,” Celia noted. “It’s clear that Laura’s work has been a cornerstone of this welcoming energy.” The partnership with Fireweed is now amplifying that legacy, creating even more room for people to come together and lead in the community.

Celia emphasized that the space is open to being whatever the community wants it to be: “If a queer community member is interested in hosting something and would like a container and support to do so, we want to make it happen.”

This is a place for support, creativity, and advocacy, and it’s clear that Methow Pride is committed to making it a space that grows and evolves with the community’s needs. As Laura Gunnip put it, it’s “a queer clubhouse for peer support, advocacy/visibility, and creativity.”

We can’t wait to see how the space unfolds and what new connections and projects it will bring to life!
